Information about your road licence
We are now able to renew your road license directly through our computer on-line with Transport Malta (TM).
We are able to renew licenses only where:
- The vehicle is a Private Car, a small or medium-sized Commercial Vehicle, or a Motor Cycle
- There are no changes to the name and address of the license-holder
- There are no changes to the vehicle details
- Your vehicle has successfully passed the Vehicle Roadworthiness Test
(Check whether VRT is due by clicking here)
and no discrepancy form was issued. If after the VRT you were issued with a Discrepancy Form, your license cannot be renewed through the on-line service. We can forward your license payment to the Licensing & Testing Directorate on your behalf. In these cases only please send a separate cheque payable to ‘Transport Malta’ to pay for the road license together with the original Discrepancy Form and your Log Book. Please remember that in these cases the renewal process may take longer.
You can ask us to renew the road license for you together with the renewal of your motor insurance policy. All you need to do is the following:
- Check whether you have any pending contraventions on the vehicle.
You can do this through the Local Enforcement System website www.les.gov.mt. - Check whether you have any pending CVA (Controlled Vehicular Access) bills. You can do this by contacting the CVA Helpdesk on Tel: 22064000 or Transport Malta Customer Care on Free Phone: 80072309, or visit the respective websites www.cva.gov.mt or www.gov.mt
